Third-generation variable fighter, replacing the VF-4 Lightning III in the early 2020's. Designed and manufactured by Shinsei Industries, the VF-11 Thunderbolt has been in service for over 20 years. It was the first variable fighter to incorporate front canards, which greatly increase maneuverability and stability at a small cost of the fighter's top speed. The Thunderbolt is scheduled to be replaced by one of the two fighters competing in the Supernova Project - the YF-19 and YF-21.
